10th April, 2012
We’re home from the 2012 Oz Mega, caught up on all orders that arrived while we were away, and resuming our clever plan of relaxing a little before (hopefully) getting some Munzees and Geocaches this weekend.
The highlights!
- Meeting everyone and sharing so many geocaching stories!
- Our Munzee peaked in the worldwide top 5! (7th as of this writing)
- If the petrol in your rental vehicle is low – fill it before leaving that rest stop just in case. (Close call! I wasn’t sure we’d make it to the next station.)
- Seeing friends we hadn’t seen since the 2010 Oz Mega!
- Wind likes to make geocache decals go flying if they are not properly weighted down. (Thank goodness for rare earth magnets!)
- A Pretty Darn Huge Flashmob on Sunday at the nearby Kinross Woolshed Hotel. 720 attendees according to the organizers!
- Never underestimate the power of geocaching trained children. To their keen geocaching eyes, no easter egg was left behind!
- The M&M’s in our “Guess How Many M&M’s” jar was as anticipated a prize as the Australia 2009 Wombat Geocoin in the prize pack!
What a fantastic time!

We are on our way to the Oz Mega in Albury-Wodonga. We wish everyone travelling to the event a safe trip. Come visit us at our stall, and don’t forget to guess how many Easter M&M’s are in our jar!
To those who won’t be joining us, please be advised there will be a delay in any orders placed through the website, and that our stock levels will be in flux and may not be accurately reflected by the website.
Have a happy Easter Weekend!

Sick and tired of people complaining about your magnetic nano caches? (April Fools Geocache!)
Feel like REALLY making them work for the find? (April Fools Geocache!)
Try our new PICO CACHE CONTAINERS! They’re so small they almost disappear from view. Have a Difficulty 5 cache in an urban area! Drive your caching friends nuts looking for these things. (April Fools Geocache!)
We should warn you – writing on the log sheets is a bit tricky. It’s best attempted with a microscope and micromanipulators, which each cacher will need to supply themselves. (Difficulty 5 is for the requirement of special equipment.). We’re working on a reliable source for the micromanipulators, so tell your friends to keep an eye on our site! (April Fools Geocache!)
Our pico geocaches come in a huge variety of colours, all designed to blend in with whatever background you care to place one on. We’re sure we’ve got one in stock that will match your intended hide, no matter where it is. (April Fools Geocache!)
(We hope you enjoyed our April Fool’s giggle!)

Vehicle Travel Bugs galore! We have decals in black, white, or reflective, all in two sizes! Both sizes of the popular window clings are restocked – we nearly ran out! Last but never least, there are black or reflective Magnetic Travel Bugs to make your decision that much more challenging.
Magnetic nano caches are back! We now have plenty in stock, in black and green. We also have (very) limited stocks of the red and camouflage ones.
Micro caches too small? Try our new Scuba Caches!
Our thoughts are with those who are affected by the floodwaters that are devastating Eastern Australia at the moment. Please stay safe when you’re out and about; we want to meet as many of you at the OzMega next month as we possible can!

Geocaching.com no longer uses Google Maps for it’s maps – instead they have switched over to OpenStreetMap. We find the new maps a tad buzy – but the trails appear wonderfully accurate! Community driven and updated, if we find something inaccurate, we can change it! Very welcome with Google Map Maker not being available here in Australia.
Curious about the change? Check out the Groundspeak Forums.

We are sponsoring and attending (and running) the Finale for the 2011 Canberran Trackable Race geocaching event on January 22, 2012. The event starts at 10am, and will be held in John Knight Park in Belconnen. (Same place as last year).
We will be announcing the final scores for all the Travel Bugs, Walkabout TAGs, and other Trackable Travellers that took part!
Even if you didn’t have a racer in the CTR, come along for the geosocial! There is a playground and facilities nearby, and the event just may turn into a picnic afterwards if the weather holds out!

We are proud to be sponsoring the ZEAMMAFF event in Sydney on January 3.
If you are in the area and able to attend – now’s the time to get your Will Attends logged! There’s Leapfrogging, Munzeeing (Munzeeisms?), a BBQ, games, prizes and best of all – geosocial time!

Feedback from customers tells us that there are very few shipping delays between us and other major centres across Australia. Great news! We had something delivered on a Sunday, they are working flat out to make sure everything gets where it is going on time!
